What If…? S03 E04 - What if… Howard the DUck Got Hitched?

BRIeF…

Ok so… when I saw this episode, I REALLY did not enjoy the plot. Don’t get me wrong the character dynamic between Darcy and Howard were fun to animation but, I’ve mentioned before I was forever traumatized animating and hand placing alot of crowd rigs… well this episode takes the record of the highest crowd rig count I’ve had to hand place.

Thank you again to the wonderful Techincal Animators Kaishen Ko and Isaac Nathan (and also Saif Khan for moral support) in fixing this monstrosity of a shot.

What worked?

This was around the time I was getting alot of long acting shots so I had to record reference for alot of these. It also got me comfortable recording reference and showing it to my supervisor compare to my first few times.

What didn’t worked?

I wanted to add the more aggressive sharp headshakes and movement I had in my reference for this shot but I tend to struggle getting that across from blocking to spline.

What to improve?

Stay away from crowds rigs.

But on a serious note, I would like to improve on how I set my keys from blocking to spline so the animation does not feel too fast and stiff or slow and floaty.
